Learn Go in Korean

Baduk is the Korean name for Go, and for twenty years Korea has produced the strongest players in the world. That isn't an accident. It came out of the dojang system, where young players train full-time on reading and fighting, and that study culture runs through how the game is taught at the top.

You can take every lesson in Korean. Some of our teachers are native Korean speakers, so the lesson runs in Korean directly. With the rest, live captions translate the whole lesson into Korean as the teacher speaks, and your questions back into theirs. Either way you study in Korean, in the language one of the game's deepest traditions is taught in.

What a lesson looks like

You meet on a shared board over video. Your teacher plays out variations while you both watch the same stones, and everything reaches you in Korean the whole time, through game review and life-and-death reading alike. You bring a game or a question, and you leave with one or two things to fix before the next lesson.

Can the lesson run in Korean the whole way through?

Yes. Book a native Korean speaker for a lesson held entirely in Korean, or any teacher to have their lesson captioned into Korean in real time. Students learning the language often keep captions on as a backup.
