About Me

Hello, Go players around the world! I am TANG Tianyuan, a Chinese professional 1-dan Go player.

I started learning Go at the age of seven and reached amateur 5-dan at nine. After spending several years focusing on school, I made a serious decision at sixteen: I left the ordinary academic path and entered a professional Go dojo to train full-time. I reached amateur 6-dan at nineteen and became a professional 1-dan player at twenty-one.

After becoming a professional, I taught Go full-time for more than four years. During that period, I helped train over 50 students to amateur 5-dan, and many more to the 3–4 dan level.

Today, I am a full-time Go content creator and live-stream host on Bilibili under the name 棋手唐天源, where my channel has over 12,000 followers. I share game reviews, professional match commentary, live teaching, and practical Go theory for players who want to understand not only what to play, but why a move is valuable.

My Teaching Style

My lessons combine professional-level analysis with a clear, lively, and entertaining teaching style.

Many students know the feeling of hearing that a move is “big”, “urgent” or “good shape”, but still not knowing how to measure it in a real game. In my teaching, I like to turn these vague concepts into something concrete.

For example, I have made videos to explain common topics that few teachers can explain clearly:

• How much is one move worth?
• How should we calculate the value of a ko?
• What size ko threat should we look for?

I especially focus on helping students build positional judgment and value judgment. Instead of asking students to memorize answers, I guide them through the reasoning process: what to look at first, how to compare candidate moves, how to estimate profit and loss, and when to stop fighting locally and return to the whole board.

Because I have both professional training and years of teaching experience, I try to make difficult concepts understandable without making them shallow. My style is suitable for students who enjoy clear explanations, practical examples, and a teacher who can make serious Go study feel engaging rather than dry.

大家好，各位热爱围棋的朋友！我是唐天源，围棋职业初段。

我 7 岁开始学棋，9 岁达到业余 5 段。后来因为读书离开了一段时间系统训练，16 岁时我做了一个重要决定：放弃普通学业路线，进入道场专职学棋。19 岁达到业余 6 段，21 岁定段成为职业初段。

定段之后，我从事了四年多专职围棋教学工作。在这段时间里，我培养出 50 余名业余 5 段学生，3–4 段学生更是不计其数。

现在，我是 Bilibili 上的全职围棋主播和内容创作者，账号名为棋手唐天源，频道粉丝数超过 1.2 万。我会在直播和视频中分享职业棋手视角下的棋局复盘、比赛解说、围棋理论和实战判断，希望帮助更多棋友不只是知道“这手棋好”，而是真正理解“为什么这手棋有价值”。

我的教学风格

我的课堂风格，可以概括为：专业、清楚、有趣。

很多棋友在学棋时，经常会听到“这手棋很大”“这里很急”“这个局部不值得下了”，但到了自己的实战里，仍然不知道该怎么判断。我的教学重点，就是把这些看似抽象的围棋感觉，变成可以理解、可以比较、可以反复使用的判断方法。

例如，我做过一些视频，专门讲解很多老师也很难讲清楚的常见问题：

• 一手棋的价值到底是多少？
• 打劫时，劫的价值应该如何计算？
• 应该找多大的劫材？

我特别重视培养学生的形势判断和价值判断。我不会只告诉学生“这手棋是正解”，而是会带着学生一起思考：这个局面先看哪里、候选点怎么比较、得失如何估算、什么时候该脱先、什么时候局部战斗已经不再重要。

因为我既有职业训练背景，也有多年教学经验，所以我的目标是把复杂内容讲得清楚，但不把围棋讲得过于简单。我的课程适合喜欢认真思考、希望提升判断力、也希望课堂气氛不枯燥的学生。
